5:00 p.m. – Social
6:00 p.m. – Program
Frauenthal Center, Downtown Muskegon
Our entire community is invited to celebrate impact in Muskegon County at our Annual Gathering on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Starting with a social hour at 5:00 p.m., everyone is welcome to gather in the Western Avenue lobby of the Frauenthal Center for food, drinks, and fellowship, followed by a program in the theater where you’ll hear from Community Foundation staff and local leaders about the positive impact our neighbors, nonprofits, and business owners are making every day.
The Impact Award
Don’t miss the announcement of our first ever Impact Award! This award recognizes a community leader who has gone above and beyond to advance education, foster a dynamic local economy, and promote prosperity for all in Muskegon County. The winner will also receive $5,000 to grant to a local nonprofit whose work aligns with one or more of those focus areas.
Complimentary Food & Drink
Three local food vendors – who are all working to bring positive impact to our community – will be on site with complimentary drinks and snacks. A limited cash bar will also be available.
- Kuntry Cookin’: Most recently operating as a catering company and food truck, Kuntry Cookin’ got their start six years ago by serving meals out of their home. They soon moved into larger kitchens, like Kitchen 242 and the now-closed Racquets Downtown Grill, and kept feeding the community their outstanding creations. This past summer, the Kuntry Cookin’ food truck could be found throughout the community at local breweries, businesses, and organizations.
- The Only Cannoli: This Italian pastry shop is owned by Bethany Bauer, a woman who loves her Italian heritage and welcomes the West Michigan community to share in the love and joy of Italian dessert. Committed to the start of new traditions to last the community a lifetime, The Only Cannoli continues to impact our community through partnerships and promotions with other local shops, small businesses, and community groups.
- Lively Up Kombucha: Lively Up combines years of brewing experience and a mindful palate to ensure that each brew of kombucha is carefully crafted and paired with organic herbs, fruits, and spices. They are passionate about supporting our local economy, recently operating out of the FARM (food, agriculture, research, and manufacturing) facility at Muskegon Community College.
We look forward to celebrating the impact these businesses have on our community! Come enjoy their unique offerings at the Annual Gathering!
Featured Speaker Brianna Scott
Brianna Scott was born and raised in Muskegon. In 2005, after several years practicing law in many different capacities, she decided to become an entrepreneur and start her own law practice. Becoming a business owner, in fact the first minority (African American and female) law firm in Muskegon County, was exciting, challenging, and very rewarding. Her law firm has grown significantly over the years, and she now employs a full time staff of five. She’ll be speaking at the Annual Gathering on the topic of powerful and positive impact in the community and how it shapes our lives.
