Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome with Dr. Joy DeGruy

Internationally renowned researcher, educator and author, Dr. Joy DeGruy, will present “Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: America’s Legacy of Enduring Injury & Healing,” on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in the Frauenthal Theater (time to be announced). Dr. DeGruy examines the conditions that led to the Atlantic slave trade and allowed racism and efforts at repression to continue through the present day. She looks at the seemingly insurmountable obstacles African Americans faced as the result of the slave trade, the adaptive behaviors they developed and replacing them today with ones that will promote healing and ensure the advancement of African American culture.
Dr. DeGruy’s presentation will be followed by a book signing in the Frauenthal lobby.
