How to Start a Fund

We're Home to More Than 900 Funds

You can give today, or plan to leave a gift in the future, in any amount, to any of our existing funds, or create a named fund of your own. Our development team is here to guide you through launching a fund and creating hope and opportunity for Muskegon County.

How it works:

Think about your charitable goals.

What impact do you want to make in the community? Do you want to be actively involved in choosing grant recipients, or do you prefer to lean on our expertise? Do you have a favorite cause you want to support?

Decide how you would like to give.

You can easily write a check or give with a credit card; tax-smart giving options include transferring appreciated stock or giving with your IRA (if you’re 70 1/2 or older). Please contact us if you have real estate or other assets you’d like to give. Explore our Types of Funds for minimum contribution requirements.

Name your fund.

A fund can be set in your name, the name of your family or business, a name that is meaningful to you, or in honor of a person or an organization.

Contact us.

Feel free to make this your first step. We’ll answer your questions, help you refine your goals, and recommend a suitable fund type. Finally, we’ll draft a fund agreement for your review.

Complete and celebrate!

Your fund is established once we have your opening gift and a signed fund agreement. You then join the growing list of Ambassadors who have created a legacy for themselves and permanent resources to support our shared community.
