We’re committed to building an accessible community. As we learn and grow, we strategically invest in programs that will create great opportunities for all in Muskegon County.
LEAD (Leading Efforts Against Discrimination) Giving Circle
Muskegon’s LEAD (Leading Efforts Against Discrimination) Giving Circle, a diverse group of Muskegon residents aged 50 and under, has awarded grants to organizations dedicated to advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI). Over the past two years, the Consumers Energy Foundation has generously contributed an additional $20,000 per year to amplify the grant-giving efforts of this initiative, which has collectively invested over $70,000 in the community. This partnership has significantly enhanced the capacity and commitment of local nonprofits to JEDI principles.
BEI Fund
The Business Equity Initiative (BEI) Fund focuses on providing resources to women business owners, particularly women of color. Co-founders Nancy McCarthy, Kim Suarez, and Mary Anne Gorman began the BEI Fund to bring equity to the local economy. Grants made from this fund can be used for any business expense including lease payment, technology, marketing, & more.
