YAC Grants

The Muskegon Youth Advisory Council (YAC) has granted over $1 million dollars since its start in 1989. In the past 5 years alone, they’ve granted more than $279,000!

2025 Grant Awards

$5,000 to Kingdom Homestead/Empowered Kids/Love N Grace for their Empowered Kids Expanded! Program, which aims to help youth aged 5-18 overcome life challenges and adverse childhood experiences. By providing weekly one-on-one sessions, students learn life skills to build a stronger future. This year, the program anticipates serving approximately 97 students in Muskegon County.

$2,000 to Hospice of Michigan, Inc.—Jo Elyn Nyman Anchors Programs for Children: Pediatric Legacy Care & Bereavement Support, which provides specialized care, including individual counseling, support groups, and bereavement services to families and infants through adolescents with life-limiting illnesses. In Muskegon County, the program expects to serve 20-25 families annually.

$10,000 to Restoration: Restore a Generation for their Creative FUN After-School Program, an after-school program in Muskegon County that combats youth hunger, improves academic performance, and promotes healthy lifestyles through engaging activities, enrichment programs, and life skills development for youth ages 6-17. While they serve all school districts, most of their students are from Muskegon Public Schools, Three Oaks Academy, Muskegon Heights, and Timberland Academy.

$4,325 to Orchard View Public Schools for their Orchard View Innovative Learning Center, which aims to remove barriers to learning by addressing students’ basic hygiene needs. This funding will support the installation of a safe, accessible on-site shower, providing students with a private space for personal hygiene.

$5,000 to The ASH (Accessible Supportive Healing) Network for their ASK – Addiction Silence Kills Campaign, which promotes inclusive conversations around substance use recovery through the distribution of ASK bracelets. The campaign empowers individuals and allies to initiate recovery-focused dialogue in everyday interactions. To date, more than 27,000 ASK bracelets have been distributed.
