Jeffrey Lake Johnson was a loving, loyal, and steadfast family man, cherished for his unwavering support and kindness. A man of strong political convictions, Jeffrey was passionate about causes that shaped the world around him. He sincerely appreciated nature and the arts, often finding beauty in both. With his gentle and generous spirit, Jeffrey’s legacy will be remembered in the hearts of those who knew him and in the community he loved.

A Muskegon-born musician and traveler, with a master’s degree in music, Jeffrey Lake Johnson toured with the US Marine Corps Band, played Broadway shows like Cats and Les Misérables, and performed with various orchestras. Settling in Las Vegas, he played in renowned shows, including The Lion King, and backed superstars such as Barbara Streisand and Andrea Bocelli. Diagnosed with ALS in 2021, he spent his final winter days with family on Lake Michigan. In 2023, his estate provided gifts to the West Michigan Symphony, Muskegon Museum of Art, and the Community Foundation, reflecting his values of education, community, and inclusion. The unrestricted fund will benefit Muskegon County perpetually.
