Join YAC!

Video created by Angelo Hernandez-Sias

Join YAC, and you’ll work to combat academic stress, anxiety, bully/cyberbullying, mental health issues, low self-esteem, and other similar challenges your peers grapple with every day.  You’ll serve your community, not because you got caught spray-painting your high school or egging a teacher’s car, but because you want to. You’ll be a grantmaker who helps dispense tens of thousands of dollars of aid to youth-related projects in Muskegon County—each year. Interested? We’re recruiting! Apply now, using the electronic form below.

Youth Advisory Council Membership Application

  • The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a collective of 30+ youth grantmakers who represent 16 Muskegon-area high schools. This team meets monthly to allot over $60,000 to local youth-serving organizations and projects. When YAC isn't grantmaking, it's planning community service projects and site visits to the organizations it funds.

YAC is currently looking for representatives from from Calvary Christian (1), Fruitport (1), Home School (2), Montague (1), Muskegon (1), Muskegon Heights (2), Oakridge (2), Orchard View (1), Ravenna (2), Reeths-Puffer (1), West Michigan Christian (1), and Whitehall (2). Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed by the current youth advisory council and you'll be contacted about an interview. Our interview dates will be May 15, 17, and 18 between 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. You'll typically know if you've been selected within a week or so of your interview.
